I received my Ph.D. degree from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington in June 2015 and finished my postdoctoral training at the GRAB lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at Yale University in February 2017. My research interests are in the areas of bio-inspired robotics, biomedical devices, rehabilitation robotics, neurobotics, control systems, and digital fabrication. They date back to my hobby on making gadgets in my father's dental clinic. With no Dremel tools, the dental instruments and materials became my first tools upon which I could exert energy and materialize ideas. I enjoy the process of the innovation, from exploring new ideas to utilizing my knowledge to prototype them. That to me is a kind of joy which is almost unequalled.
